TruckwCrosses

A Word from the Owner:

I have been involved in trucking since I was 8-9 years old and started driving about that time both tractors and pickups. We were farmers and I learned how to drive, work on equipment and do my work right. By the time I received my DL I had already been driving day cabs and pulling cotton and grain on the farm. We bought a dump trailer and I hauled lime and fertilizer to the farm from Tupelo and Trebloc, Ms, and we eventually had about 3 trucks on the farm all cab over internationals, and those were the trucks I most enjoyed driving. My father died in 1981 and we no longer farmed, but I was very blessed anyway. I got to work with 2 really good men that were very successful in business, and I had the opportunity to watch their decision-making processes and how they watched everyday business. Dynamite Kirk, who is more a mentor to me as well as a good friend taught me volumes, even though he may have never known how closely I watched. In 2005 we had the opportunity to start a produce company in Jackson, MS, and this was the company that we sold in 2010. All the things I went through in life, I feel like the Lord used to prepare me for this time in my life, the time on the farm, learning how to make things work, jobs in the car industry, where I learned how to sell and network and operate with a process. And Mid-South Produce, where I learned how to build, and make things work and grow with the wisdom of God.
MS. freight began in November 2010. We had sold another business to the Merchants Food Co. in Hattiesburg in June 2010, after transitioning the customer base to them, we need to find something to do. I spent some time in prayer and waiting for the direction from the Lord. I felt He was leading us into the trucking industry and after some research, we took a step with 1 lease unit and 1 reefer trailer and started moving freight in December 2010. MS. Freight started with one truck in 2010, we added the first Volvo in 2011. We started growing and adding trucks until we reach 96 units and 260 trailers. We have been able to keep customers and grow our business, because we always understood, we must do business the way the Lord would have us do business. We believe in developing relationships with customers and taking care of them, and we strive to do better than any other company. Anyone can haul freight, but we wanted to take this to another place of service and be responsive and available to the customer and shipper, so we track everything, and we always know where the load is.
MS. Freight has grown, and we have been able to develop the networks with shippers that has allowed us to move to almost 100% outbound shipper freight. We also have grown into yard management and trailer shuttle work, and we have opened a brokerage company to capture freight that we do not handle.
One of the things we believe, is that we have been blessed to be a blessing, so we support churches and ministries from South Africa to America, because we this is our mission and destiny in life, to build His Kingdom.
We have some of the very best employees, that understand our principles and strive to help us as a company meet our goals, not just being another trucking company, but being the absolute best in everything we do.
Our growth has fueled other opportunities, one is our new service facility MS. Sales and Service. We can do anything on a truck or trailer, including engine and powertrain rebuild and repair, windshields, tires, electrical, hydraulics, air and pm services, and we have a full parts department. We also have a metal fabrication department, with a plasma table, 3 kinds of welders, 3 CNC machines, 2 mills, lathes and surface grinders. We also have a 20’ hydraulic bench that can handle cylinders up to 12” in diameter.
We also have a shop and freight office in Memphis, Tennessee and we never stop looking for the opportunities that are making themselves known.
The Lord has blessed us beyond anything we could have ever imagined, and we are becoming a one stop company, from freight and logistic managements to service of trucks and trailers, industrial repair and oil and grease sales, to manufacturing and fabrication. Road calls with 5 service trucks, some outfitted with cranes and welders.
We recently decided to move away from Volvo trucks after 11 years and over 300 trucks, and we moved to Internationals. We like this move, because we believe our new dealer, Waters International is one of the best we have dealt with since we started. Just as we strive to be a very different company, we also see that the Waters dealerships think outside the preverbal box and look for ways to make good things take happen.

A couple of Verses we strive to live by:

Ephesians 3:20 says that God is able to carry out His will in us and do superabundantly, far over and above all we can think, ask or pray according to His power in us.

Ps 5:12 is our verse we live by - it says: The Lord will bless the righteous and surround us with favor as a shield.

We can only thank the Lord for His goodness, grace and favor every single day.
